Information

Thames Valley Park nature reserve includes 24 acres of wetland habitat alongside the River Thames with great routes for cyclists and walkers, including the Thames Tow Path.

Fishing is permitted on a one mile stretch of the River Thames, between June 16th and March 15th annually (the angling close season on rivers).

All anglers are required by law to hold a valid Environment Agency Rod Licence. Please ensure you have a valid licence before booking to fish. EA Enforcement Officers can impose fines of up to £2,500 if you’re fishing and cannot show a valid rod fishing licence when asked. Directions and Access

Thames Valley Park is located 5 miles from Junction 10 of the M4. When using the sat nav to reach Thames Valley Park, use the postcode RG6 1PT.

Free parking is available on the dual carriageway, adjacent to the country park between 10:30am – 4:30pm Monday – Sunday.

Alternatively, pay and display parking is available at David Lloyd via the Ringo app.

 

Rules

  • Barbless or Micro-Barbed hooks only.
  • No multiple hook rigs.
  • No braided mainlines.
  • No peanuts to be used as bait.
  • Please be sensible when free-baiting and avoid using excessive quantities.
  • Swims are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Unhooking mats must be used for carp or other large fish.
  • Keepnets are permitted for silverfish only, no carp or other large fish to be retained.
  • Please take your litter home. You will be held responsible for any litter discarded in the swim you are fishing or vacating (even if it’s not yours).
  • No bathing, sub-aqua, wading or swimming on the river or lake.
  • Persons must enter Thames Valley Park by the proper access points and keep strictly to the bank sides.
  • The use of radios, televisions, musical instruments and guns is prohibited.
  • Baited rods must not be left unattended at any time.
  • Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult (with a valid ticket).
  • All fish must be returned alive to the swim where caught. NO FISH TO BE TAKEN OR KILLED.
  • Cars are parked on Thames Valley Park at the owner’s risk, Thames Valley Park accepts no liability for theft from or damage to vehicles whilst on site.
