Information

Commonwood Fishery is a “water for everyone” venue.

Weston is a fantastic carp runs water, with fantastic head of double figured size carp including some over the magic 20lb mark with the lake record being 25lb. This water fishes very well year round which has made a very popular lake. This water is large bivvy swims. There is one double bivvy swim which is peg 11.

On arrival, you will find a large car park, our Lodge café and on-site Commonwood Tackle Shop.

The lodge is open 8 am – 5 pm every day offers a great social area for anglers to relax combined with a pleasant cafe serving hot and cold drinks and snacks. Free wi-fi is also available in the café. Our tackle shop has a great range of tackle, bait and gear from many of the major brands.

Directions and Access

From Chester/coast road on A483 take the slip road off for Nantwich/Wrexham Industrial Estate, at the roundabout take 2nd exit to follow along new link road, over a small roundabout then a short distance to a larger roundabout (garage on left) take the first exit, follow the road until come to Holt Lodge Hotel on right, take the turning left opposite the hotel to follow the road and a short distance, then after a bend, the fishery is on the left with a brick wall entrance, and sign on the wall.

From Oswestry area follow the Nantwich Road which will join the A483, take the slip road for Wrexham industrial estate, at the roundabout take 4th exit onto new link road, over small roundabout then a short distance to a larger roundabout (garage on left) take the first exit, follow the road until come to Holt Lodge Hotel on right, take the turning left opposite the hotel to follow the road and a short distance, then after a bend, the fishery is on the left with a brick wall entrance, and sign on the wall.

Rules

Weston Lake
(Carp)

  • All Anglers must sign in at the cafe before going on site
  • If you are starting your session on an evening session, you will not be allowed to your peg until 6.15pm
  • Strictly no guests or spectators
  • When night fishing no person is to enter the front car park after 7pm
  • Only nets, slings & cradles provided by the fishery to be used all nets must be broken down to transfer fish to the cradle
  • All nets and slings must be rolled up and left in the cradles at the end of your session.
  • Access to the far margin is out of bounds – any one caught will be asked to leave.
  • Maximum 2 rods only
  • Barbless hooks only
  • No leaders of any description
  • Anti-tangle tubing must be used on the mainline above the lead (min 18 inches)
  • Minimum breaking strain line 12lb
  • No retaining fish all fish to be returned to the water as quickly as possible using the weigh slings provided
  • No fixed leads, including helicopter and chod setups
  • No fixed feeders or elasticated feeders
  • Do not leave rods unattended under any circumstances
  • All lost rigs and line must be reported to management
  • Fishing from designated pegs only
  • No particle baits, no nuts, no meat hookbait only
  • No surface fishing or stalking
  • No fires or bbqs – gas stoves only
  • Bailiffs may ask to carry out rig checks
  • All must be taken rubbish home
  • Children under the age of 10 must have permission to fish Weston/llewellyn when accompanied by an adult fishing the same peg. No children under the age of 12 to night fish.
  • To night fish alone you must be 16 or over.
  • Permission to bring a dog is required before fishing. Dogs must be kept on the peg, dog mess taken away with you. No barking.

Anyone caught in breach of any of the rules could be removed from the fishery and banned
